Jed D. Hazeltine is a San Luis Obispo attorney with more than two decades of litigation and transactional experience. His practice focuses on estate and tax planning, probate and trust administration, professional fiduciary services, and trust and estate litigation and appeals. He provides individualized guidance and develops practical solutions based on each client’s personal, financial, and legal needs.
Jed earned a B.A. in Political Science from Pepperdine University in 1993 and a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1999. He later received an LL.M. in Taxation from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2006. He also completed a Certificate in Professional Fiduciary Management for Trustees through California State University, Fullerton, in 2010.
Jed has handled disputes involving trustee removal, trust accountings, misuse of trust property, fiduciary duties, inheritance rights, and the ownership of estate assets. His representative matters include obtaining substantial judgments, settlements, surcharge orders, and favorable rulings for trustees and beneficiaries. He has also represented clients in trust appeals, including proceedings that reached the California Supreme Court. His tax training helps him consider federal and state tax issues when advising clients.
Jed D. Hazeltine became a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law through the State Bar of California in 2015. He is also a licensed California professional fiduciary and a National Certified Guardian. He is admitted to practice in California, Texas, and Nevada, as well as before the United States Tax Court and federal district courts in California. His practice combines careful legal analysis, responsive communication, and personal attention throughout each matter.
