Jay Meisenhelder is a seasoned attorney based in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a practice focused on employment law, workplace discrimination, and civil rights litigation. With nearly three decades of legal experience, Jay has built a respected reputation for protecting employees’ rights in the face of workplace injustice and constitutional violations.
Jay earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 1997 and was inducted into the prestigious Order of Barristers for excellence in courtroom advocacy. He also holds an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland and an A.B. in Radio and Television from Indiana University Bloomington.
Since his admission to the Indiana Bar in 1997, Jay has practiced in state and federal courts, including the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th and 11th Circuits, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan. He has also appeared pro hac vice in the Middle District of Florida.
Before founding his practice, Jay served as a Deputy Prosecutor in the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit of Marion County and was an attorney with the employment discrimination and labor law firm of John H. Haskin & Associates. His litigation experience, particularly in employment law and civil rights, enables him to advocate effectively for clients facing discrimination, retaliation, and violations of free speech.
Jay is also dedicated to legal education, serving as an Adjunct Professor of Law in Trial Advocacy at Indiana University Maurer School of Law and coaching trial teams for the National Trial Competition.
