About
Jay F. Fowler has developed one of the most extensive civil litigation practices in Kansas, taking more than 200 jury trials to verdict. He serves as lead counsel in high-stakes commercial disputes, fiduciary duty litigation, and business tort cases. His practice also includes employment conflicts, intellectual property matters, and professional negligence defense.
Jay began his academic career at Emporia State University, earning a B.S. with honors in 1977. He continued on to the University of Kansas, where he received his J.D. in 1980 and contributed as Associate Editor of the Kansas Law Review. That educational foundation supports his work in state and federal courts, where he has litigated complex matters for decades.
Jay’s wide-ranging trial work covers commercial lawsuits, municipal litigation, trust and estate disputes, and product liability cases. He has guided clients through mediation, arbitration, and negotiations, bringing strategic insights to each stage of conflict. His ability to handle noncompete and trade secret issues has also made him a trusted advocate in employment-related litigation.
Over the years, Jay has been recognized with numerous honors reflecting his professional excellence. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a past Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a Kansas Bar Foundation Fellow. He has been consistently ranked in Chambers USA and included in Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers®, with multiple selections to the Top 100 list. His peers have also recognized him in The Best Lawyers in America® across commercial, municipal, intellectual property, and trusts and estates litigation.
Jay F. Fowler’s reputation extends beyond the courtroom. He has served on the Kansas Supreme Court Nominating Commission, led the Wichita Bar Association as President, and received the Wichita Bar Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. His dedication is also evident in community service, where his leadership ensured the future of health care in Larned, Kansas. Through both trial advocacy and public service, he continues to shape the legal landscape.
