Jason F. Ruwet

Jason F. Ruwet is a Director and Shareholder at Kolvoord, Overton & Wilson, P.C. His practice focuses on corporate and general business law, estate planning, probate law, commercial financing, and commercial real estate. He works with clients on transactions and planning matters that can involve business structure, property ownership, financing arrangements, succession concerns, and estate administration. Jason earned a J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law in 1999 and a B.A. from Ithaca College in 1995, where he majored in political science and minored in journalism. During law school, he interned with the Maine International Trade Center and provided technical assistance to businesses seeking to expand internationally. His academic and early professional work created a foundation in business, trade, research, and commercial legal issues.

Jason moved to Vermont in 2000 and practiced with a mid-sized law firm in South Burlington before joining Kolvoord, Overton & Wilson in 2003. He became a director and shareholder in 2007. His current work includes corporate and business matters, commercial financing, commercial real estate, estate planning, and probate. Earlier volunteer work with the Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project also gave him experience supporting access to legal services for people unable to afford representation.

Jason F. Ruwet is admitted in Vermont, Washington, D.C., and the US District Court for the District of Vermont. He is a member of the Vermont Bar Association, its International Law Section, and the Chittenden County Bar Association.
