About
Kevin J. Shortell is an owner and managing director of the Peet Law Group in Williston and practices in real estate law. The firm represents buyers, sellers, lenders, investors, and property owners in residential and commercial real estate transactions throughout Vermont. Kevin’s background includes real estate and probate matters, giving him experience with property transfers, ownership issues, title and closing work, and legal questions that can intersect with estates and long-term planning.
Kevin graduated from the University of Vermont in 1991 and earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1994. While in law school, he received the American Jurisprudence Award in estate planning. His education provided a foundation in property, estate, and transaction-related legal analysis. That training continues to support his work reviewing documents, identifying legal issues, and guiding clients through the structured requirements involved in Vermont real estate transactions.
Kevin served as law clerk to the Honorable Susan L. Fowler of the Chittenden Probate Court in 1995. He then practiced with Morwood & Morwood in South Burlington from 1995 through 2007, handling a broad general practice with a particular focus on real estate and probate. He joined the Law Offices of Fred V. Peet, P.C. in 2007 and has since concentrated his practice on real estate matters.
Kevin J. Shortell brings more than three decades of legal experience to Vermont real estate transactions. His earlier probate work and long focus on property matters provide useful perspective when transactions involve estates, ownership changes, or other planning concerns. As a managing director at a real estate-focused firm, he works within a team handling closings, title work, refinancing, agreements, and related services, helping clients complete property transactions with careful attention to legal requirements and documentation.
