Jason E. Thompson

Jason E. Thompson is an Oregon criminal defense attorney and the founder of Thompson Law in Salem. He represents individuals in state and federal investigations, criminal prosecutions, appeals, post-conviction proceedings, and related administrative matters. His practice includes DUII defense, homicide, Ballot Measure 11 offenses, sex crimes, violent crimes, white-collar allegations, drug charges, expungements, and professional disciplinary cases. He has also represented clients before the Oregon Supreme Court and the US Supreme Court.

Mr. Thompson earned his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1997. He completed a joint J.D. and M.B.A. program at Willamette University in 2001 and received a Certificate in Dispute Resolution. During law school, he served as a member of the Willamette Law Review. He was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 2001 and is also admitted before the US District Court for the District of Oregon, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the US Supreme Court.

Mr. Thompson began his legal career clerking for Oregon Supreme Court Justice Paul J. De Muniz. He later worked as a deputy district attorney in the Multnomah and Marion County District Attorney’s Offices. In 2003, he joined Ferder Casebeer French & Thompson, LLP, where he became a partner in 2007. He remained with the firm until establishing Thompson Law in 2019. His prosecutorial and appellate experience provides insight into how criminal cases are investigated, charged, negotiated, and tried.
