Jane B. Emons

Jane B. Emons serves as Of Counsel at Cohen and Wolf, P.C., focusing her practice on litigation and dispute resolution, family law, and employment counseling. A retired Connecticut Superior Court Judge, she now provides mediation, arbitration, and special mastering services, guiding clients through complex and contentious disputes with fairness, professionalism, and practical solutions.

Jane’s academic background reflects strong dedication to the law and public service. She earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Suffolk University in 1977, where she also contributed to the Law Review. She previously obtained a Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972, and a Bachelor of Arts from Kirkland College in 1971, establishing a solid foundation for her legal career.

Before her judicial appointment, Jane built an impressive record as both an Assistant State’s Attorney in New Haven and an Assistant Attorney General for Connecticut. In those roles, she litigated significant employment law cases in state and federal courts, earning recognition for her legal skill and commitment to justice. Her service prepared her to address complex disputes with a balanced and pragmatic approach.

In 2010, Jane B. Emons was appointed to the Connecticut Superior Court by Governor Jodi Rell, where she presided over cases involving criminal, domestic violence, and family law matters. During nearly seven years as a Presiding Family Judge, she handled challenging divorce and custody matters, ensuring fairness for families in transition. Today, Jane applies this wealth of experience to alternative dispute resolution, helping parties resolve sensitive matters efficiently and effectively.
