James R. Elder is an attorney at an Oklahoma family law firm with over 40 years of legal experience in Tulsa. His practice focuses on family law, corporate law, and business law. James graduated from the Oklahoma Military Academy with an A.A. in 1967. He earned his B.A. from Northeastern State College in 1969 and his J.D. from the University of Tulsa in 1971. His education helped prepare him for a long career serving Oklahoma clients.
James was admitted to practice law in Oklahoma in 1972. He was also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma in 1973, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1977.
James has served as the past chairman of the Tulsa County Bar Association’s Domestic Relations Section. He was also a contributing editor to the Oklahoma Trial Lawyer Journal. These roles reflect his long involvement in family law, legal writing, and the broader Oklahoma legal community.
