James K. Luster

James K. Luster is a skilled criminal defense attorney and partner at Cofer Luster Criminal Defense Lawyers in Fort Worth, Texas. His legal career began as a prosecutor in Lubbock and Tarrant Counties, where he handled thousands of adult and juvenile cases. Luster earned his B.B.A. in Business Management, magna cum laude, from Abilene Christian University. He later obtained his J.D. from the University of Houston School of Law, where he was active in trial advocacy and student organizations, including the Christian Legal Society and the Student Bar Association.

Early in his legal career, Luster launched his practice at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as an intern, gaining valuable, first-hand courtroom experience. After law school, he served as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney, first in Lubbock County and then with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. In Tarrant County, he handled thousands of criminal cases and tried dozens of them to jury verdict.
