James K. Fett is the founding partner of Fett Law – Michigan’s Employment Lawyers and a respected Michigan employment attorney. He focuses his practice on representing employees whose workplace rights have been violated. For decades, he has handled cases involving discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, whistleblower claims, civil rights, and other employment-related disputes. His work centers on holding employers accountable and helping workers seek fair treatment under the law. James is widely recognized for taking on complex and high-profile cases against large employers throughout Michigan.
James earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan in 1986. His legal education provided a strong foundation in employment law, litigation strategy, and civil rights advocacy. He is also a graduate of the School of Business at University of Michigan and did an M.B.A from the same university. This academic background continues to guide his approach to building strong legal arguments and protecting employee rights.
James gained statewide attention by winning the first sexual harassment trial ever aired on CourtTV early in his career. This landmark victory helped establish his reputation as a skilled employment-law trial lawyer. Since then, he has consistently represented workers in severe and challenging cases, including claims involving workplace discrimination, hostile work environments, and unlawful employment practices. His work has led to significant outcomes for clients facing unfair treatment in the workplace.
James is committed to employee advocacy, which has earned him numerous professional honors. He has been named one of the Ten Most Outstanding Attorneys of the Year by Michigan Lawyers Weekly and received Lawyer of the Year recognition from the Washtenaw Trial Lawyers Association.
