James F. Lafrance is a partner at Normandin, Cheney & O’Neil with a diverse trial practice. He represents clients in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies. James earned his juris doctorate degree from Boston College Law School in 1984, graduating cum laude. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, graduating with honors. These degrees support his careful legal analysis, trial preparation, and practical guidance for clients today.

James joined Normandin, Cheney & O’Neil after law school and became a partner in 1994. Since then, he has handled a wide range of litigation matters. His work includes representing both employers and employees in employment-related disputes, as well as handling claims involving injury, discrimination, compensation, and business issues statewide.

James is a member of the Belknap County, New Hampshire, Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a sustaining member of the New Hampshire Association for Justice and a Fellow of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation. These memberships reflect his ongoing commitment to the legal profession and professional service.

James was a co-recipient of the President’s Award for Distinguished Service to the Legal Profession. This award reflects his active role in bar association activities and his service to the legal community.
