About

James Duquet is an attorney at The Probate Pro, where he brings a unique perspective shaped by years of experience in public service, judicial clerking, and court administration. After serving as Court Administrator and Probate Register in Livingston County, James transitioned to private practice to directly advocate for litigants and fiduciaries navigating probate matters. He now represents clients weekly in probate courts, handling a wide range of estate, trust, and conservatorship issues with deep insight into the inner workings of Michigan’s judicial system.

James earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, where he served as Comments Editor for the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Board. He completed judicial externships with the Michigan Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He also holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan and is a graduate of the Honors College.

With a legal foundation built through roles in the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) and Michigan appellate courts, James has contributed to state-level policy through his work on the Probate Forms Committee and Probate Court Technology Committee. His clients benefit from his dual perspective as both a former court official and a skilled advocate in active litigation.

At The Probate Pro, attorney James Duquet is recognized for his clear communication, strategic problem-solving, and results-focused approach to estate administration and probate litigation. Combining professionalism with genuine empathy, he guides families, fiduciaries, and personal representatives through complex probate and estate matters with confidence, clarity, and care.
