James Carrigan

James Carrigan is an experienced Massachusetts attorney who focuses on helping injured workers and people seeking Social Security Disability or SSI benefits. For decades, he has guided clients through complex legal systems with clear advice and steady advocacy, working to protect workers and support individuals facing financial hardship.

James earned a B.A. cum laude from Suffolk University and later received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. His education built the foundation for a long legal career devoted to advocacy, public service, and helping individuals understand their rights under workers’ compensation and disability law systems today.

James has been admitted to practice in Massachusetts since 1977 and before the United States District Court since 1977. In 2005, he was also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, reflecting a career marked by professional respect and a long-standing commitment to the legal profession.

James is active in several professional organizations. He serves on the Executive Board of the Greater Lynn Bar Association and is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives. His work also includes service with the Massachusetts Legislators’ Association, supporting collaboration and professional leadership statewide.

James has received numerous honors recognizing his service and advocacy. These include the John Jennings Advocacy Award from the Greater Lynn Bar Association, recognition from the North Shore Labor Council for commitment to workers and lifelong service to the City of Lynn, and other community awards.

James Carrigan contributes to the community through education and public service. He has lectured on workers’ compensation, parliamentary procedure, and political organization for the North Shore Labor Council. He also supports students through Mock Trial programs and has hosted The American Dream talk show on Lynn Community Access + Media.
