J. Thomas Spiggle

Thomas Spiggle is the founder of The Spiggle Law Firm, where he represents employees across Virginia, Washington, D.C., and North Carolina in complex employment law cases. With a career dedicated to defending workers’ rights, Tom focuses on helping individuals who have been wrongfully terminated or discriminated against, guiding them toward justice and a renewed sense of empowerment.

Tom earned his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, following both a Master of Arts in Communication Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina. Early in his career, he served as a prosecutor in the Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Unit, gaining valuable trial experience before transitioning into private practice, where he represented corporations, officers, and employees in employment-related matters.

In 2009, J. Thomas Spiggle founded his firm with a clear mission: to help employees navigate challenging workplace situations toward what he calls their “Phoenix moment.” He has become a national voice in employment law, particularly in cases involving pregnancy discrimination. As the author of “You’re Pregnant, You’re Fired” and a senior contributor for Forbes, Tom educates both employees and employers on workplace rights and fairness.

Widely recognized for his achievements, Tom has been selected to Super Lawyers (2018–2025), named among the Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 by the American Society of Legal Advocates, and ranked in Chambers USA 2025 for excellence in employment law.
