Doreen Spears Hartwell is the co-founder of Hartwell Thalacker, Ltd., where she represents clients in complex business and commercial litigation. Practicing in Nevada since 2000, she has handled matters involving employment law, trade secret disputes, non-compete claims, real estate conflicts, and probate-related issues. She is recognized for defending employers in claims involving wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment under federal and state laws.
Doreen’s academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Spanish from Fairfield University. In 2000, she earned her Juris Doctor with honors from McGeorge School of Law. Upon relocating to Las Vegas, she launched a distinguished legal career that has garnered widespread recognition for her litigation skills and commitment to justice.
Doreen has been honored by Lawdragon, Best Lawyers in America®, and Mountain States Super Lawyers. She holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell® and has repeatedly been named among Nevada’s Legal Elite®. Beyond her practice, she serves as Chair for the Lawyer Representative Coordinating Committee for the Ninth Circuit and has held leadership positions in the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association.
Doreen Spears Hartwell’s dedication to pro bono work is equally distinguished. Doreen chairs the Pro Bono Advisory Council for the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and serves on the Nevada Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission. She has received numerous awards, including the Legal Aid Center’s “Pro Bono Attorney of the Year.” Since 2004, she has also mentored youth as a supervising attorney in the Trial by Peers Program, helping inspire the next generation of legal advocates.
