J. Scott Anderson is a real estate lawyer, and he focuses on planned developments, land use, transactions, redevelopment, renewable energy, and community association matters. He co-chairs the Real Estate Practice Area and chairs the Planned Real Estate Development Practice Area at Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla, P.C. He guides national homebuilders and independent developers through residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects structured as condominiums or fee-simple communities. He prepares governing documents and supervises public offering plan registrations before the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.
Scott earned his B.A. from Indiana University in 1990, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1993. He is admitted in New Jersey and before the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. His education and admissions support his work on property transactions, development approvals, community structures, and state-regulated offering documents.
Scott advises clients on land acquisitions, land banking arrangements, property sales, leases, and the suitability of tracts for development. He prepares and negotiates transaction documents while helping clients obtain municipal approvals for varied land-use projects. He processes development applications and appears before municipal boards when approvals require hearings or formal presentations. He also serves as an expert witness in planned real estate disputes before courts throughout New Jersey.
J. Scott Anderson has earned recognition for his real estate knowledge, and he remains active in the development industry. He received PulteGroup’s Land Consultant of the Year award in 2017 and 2025. He served as co-counsel on a transaction named the New Jersey Chapter of NAIOP’s 2023 Office Deal of the Year. He has appeared in Best Lawyers for Real Estate Law since 2011 and was ranked in Chambers USA’s 2026 Band 3 for New Jersey real estate. He serves on Amboy Bank’s board and participates in several real estate industry organizations.
