J.R. Strom

J.R. Strom is a shareholder at Ohnstad Twichell, P.C. who works from the firm’s Hillsboro, North Dakota office. His practice focuses on real estate law, estate planning and probate, business and corporate law, and municipal law. Strom attended the University of North Dakota School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He also received the Outstanding Student Leadership Award and a Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation scholarship. During law school, he served as editor-in-chief of the North Dakota Law Review, participated in the Trial Team, and completed an externship with the North Dakota Supreme Court. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Dakota in 2013 with a major in psychology.

Before joining Ohnstad Twichell in 2016, Strom worked as a clerk in the Bismarck office of Crowley Fleck and gained appellate experience through his North Dakota Supreme Court externship. His practice brings together transactional, planning, and public-sector concerns involving real estate, estates, businesses, and municipalities. Admitted in North Dakota and Minnesota, he helps clients address legal requirements, organize important decisions, and move matters forward with an understanding of regional needs.

Strom is a member of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, the American Bar Association, and the North Dakota Title Standards Committee. He also serves as a director of the Hillsboro Economic Development Corporation, chairs the Lodging Tax Committee, and is an active past president of the Hillsboro Business Association. Through his professional and community leadership, J.R. Strom brings practical judgment, local knowledge, and a strong commitment to serving clients and organizations in the Hillsboro area.
