J. Patrick Hickey

Patrick Hickey is a partner at Raffaele Puppio, leading the firm’s litigation department. His practice focuses on personal injury, automobile liability, workers’ compensation, construction accidents, and criminal defense. A seasoned trial lawyer, he has handled hundreds of cases and served as lead counsel in approximately 50 jury trials. He has also argued multiple cases before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and Superior Court, securing multi-million dollar recoveries for his clients in catastrophic personal injury cases.

Hickey earned his J.D. from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law in 1991 after obtaining his B.S. in Economics from Boston College in 1988. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Before joining Raffaele Puppio in 2004, Hickey worked as an insurance defense trial lawyer at Jenkins, Wolf, Rubinate & Hasson in Philadelphia. Earlier in his career, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Calvin E. Smith and later worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Berks County, Pennsylvania, gaining valuable courtroom and prosecutorial experience.

Hickey is a dedicated legal educator and longtime adjunct professor at Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where for over five years he has taught core lawyering skills such as client interviewing, counseling, and negotiation. He also serves as a judge in the school’s appellate moot court advocacy program, actively mentoring and training the next generation of trial lawyers.

Patrick Hickey is an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Delaware County Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. His work has earned him recognition in Best Lawyers in America, a respected peer-reviewed legal publication.
