Joseph V. Cavanagh III

Joseph V. Cavanagh III is an experienced litigation attorney and a partner at Blish & Cavanagh, LLP. His practice covers general litigation on business, commercial, real estate, product liability, and personal injury cases. With a strong record in state and federal courts, he has successfully represented clients across Rhode Island and Massachusetts. His clients include Fortune 500 companies, business executives, government officials, small businesses, and individuals. Joseph is known for his strategic legal approach, handling cases from pre-litigation strategy to trial and appeals.

Joseph earned his B.A. in History from the College of the Holy Cross in 1999. He later obtained his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 2003, where he served as Executive Bench Editor of the Cornell Moot Court Board. He also represented Cornell in Vienna’s Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot.

Since becoming a partner in 2013, Joseph has built a strong reputation in litigation. He has handled complex commercial disputes, fiduciary matters, and regulatory cases. His experience includes working as an associate at Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo PC and interning for Hon. Mary M. Lisi in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island.

Joseph is a nationally recognized litigator with a proven record of success in complex disputes.
