About
Dean Keegan focuses his practice at Keegan, Tindal & Jaeger on criminal defense, with a strong emphasis on OWI and DUI cases. He represents people facing serious charges and helps them understand the court process, their rights, and the possible effects of each decision. His work includes reviewing evidence, challenging field sobriety testing, addressing alcohol testing issues, and preparing defense strategies. Through careful case review and direct professional advocacy, he helps clients protect their freedom, license, record, future interests, and professional reputation.
Dean earned a B.G.S. from the University of Iowa, with coursework focused on social work and counseling. He later earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, where he graduated with distinction and served as associate editor of the University of Iowa Law Review. His education gave him a base in legal analysis, writing, and advocacy, while his academic focus helped him understand the human side of criminal defense work and the challenges faced by accused people.
Dean began his legal career in 1992 and has built decades of experience defending people accused of crimes. His practice is limited to criminal defense, allowing him to focus deeply on the laws, procedures, and evidence involved in these cases. He has been active in trial lawyer organizations, including service on boards and criminal law sections. He has also helped draft and support changes to Iowa laws involving OWI revocations and CDL cancellations, seeking fairer rules for accused drivers statewide.
Dean Keegan has helped people by bringing strong knowledge, preparation, and steady guidance to difficult criminal cases. He has presented on OWI defense, jury selection, Drug Recognition Evaluation protocols, field sobriety testing, and evidence. His training includes the same standardized field sobriety testing methods taught to officers, as well as advanced study of blood and urine testing. By combining legal skill with practical knowledge of testing and procedure, Dean works to challenge weak evidence and defend clients.
