Ira Treuhaft is a partner at Treuhaft & Zakarin, LLP, concentrating his practice on matrimonial law and bankruptcy. Before entering the legal field, Ira earned a B.A. in History from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1999. He later received his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2002. During law school, he interned with the Honorable Marvin J. Garbus and worked with then-Majority Leader Eric I. Cantor, gaining firsthand experience in legislative and judicial processes.
Before law, Ira managed political campaigns across New York, New Jersey, and Ohio, and later founded The Treu Group, a consulting firm that advised candidates on electoral strategy. This experience sharpened his ability to analyze, negotiate, and advocate—skills that now serve his clients in matrimonial and bankruptcy matters.
Throughout his legal career, Ira has represented individuals through life’s most challenging transitions, offering solutions grounded in empathy and legal precision. Ira is known for guiding clients through the intricacies of divorce and financial restructuring with clarity and commitment.
In addition to his practice, Ira shares his knowledge as an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he helps prepare the next generation of legal and political professionals. His work in both education and advocacy reflects his dedication to the broader legal and civic community.
