Ian T. Morton

Ian T. Morton is a senior litigation attorney at Paletz Law in Troy, Michigan. He focuses on civil litigation, landlord-tenant law, and creditors’ rights in bankruptcy. He also handles fair housing defense, appellate issues, and administrative law matters. Alongside his client work, he supervises associate attorneys, manages litigation dockets, and oversees case administration. His practice frequently involves conflicts between property owners, tenants, and parties asserting financial claims.

Ian earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from Michigan State University in 2000. He then received his J.D. from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in December 2004. During law school, he participated in law journal, moot court, and mock trial activities and interned with the Michigan Department of Attorney General and Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. He was admitted in Michigan in 2005 and Ohio in 2014.

Ian’s representative work includes obtaining full payment of rents for a commercial property owner affected by a tenant’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy. He has also won a trial verdict removing a tenant whose conduct threatened property management staff and helped defend a manufactured housing client against discrimination claims.
