About
Hugo Valverde is the founder of Valverde Law PLLC, a Virginia Beach firm dedicated exclusively to immigration law. Practicing since 2005, he has represented families, employees, and individuals nationwide in a wide range of immigration matters. His approach is shaped by his own family’s immigration journey from Peru, giving him personal insight into the challenges his clients face.
Hugo earned his Juris Doctor with honors from Regent University School of Law, where he served as senior editor of the Regent University Law Review. Before law school, he completed a Master’s degree in Environmental Management at Duke University and a Bachelor of Science at the College of William and Mary. He has also published scholarly articles in the Journal of Coastal Research and the Journal of Coastal Management.
Hugo began his legal career as an attorney advisor to the Immigration Courts in Oakdale, New Orleans, and Memphis, a role awarded through the U.S. Attorney General’s Honors Program. He later co-managed Valverde & Rowell, P.C., for more than a decade before launching Valverde Law in 2019. In addition, he teaches immigration law and practicum courses at Regent University, mentoring law students while helping asylees, victims of crime, and survivors of trafficking.
A recognized community leader, Hugo hosts a weekly Spanish-language show, Inmigración Hasta el Tope, broadcast on Facebook Live and La Selecta Radio. He has also served on state-level immigration committees and received the Virginia State Bar Young Lawyers Conference’s R. Edwin Burnette Jr. Young Lawyer of the Year Award. His admissions include the Virginia State Bar, and through his expertise in immigration law, he represents clients nationwide.
Dedicated to service and advocacy, Hugo Valverde combines his legal skills, teaching, and community outreach to protect the rights of immigrants and their families across the United States.
