Heather A. McPherson is an accomplished attorney whose practice focuses on estate planning, trust and estate administration, and long-term wealth preservation. Known for her meticulous approach and strategic insight, she advises clients on sophisticated solutions designed to protect assets, address complex tax considerations, and ensure the effective transfer of wealth across generations.

Heather earned her Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School after completing her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Management, with a minor in Legal Studies, at Beloit College. This strong academic foundation supports her ability to navigate intricate legal and tax issues that affect estate planning, trust administration, and real estate matters involving agricultural holdings.

Since joining McPherson Law Offices in 2001, Heather has become a key member of the firm, assisting clients in probate administration, trust management, and real estate transactions. Her experience includes guiding clients through the complexities of both Illinois and federal estate tax laws, ensuring efficient administration and minimizing tax burdens. She is admitted to practice in Illinois, Florida, and Wisconsin, and before the United States Tax Court and the United States Supreme Court.

Heather is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, and the Wisconsin State Bar Association. She serves on the Board of Directors of ISBA Mutual Insurance Company and has held leadership positions, including Treasurer and Secretary, with the Illinois State Bar Association. She has also contributed to committees addressing investments, budgeting, personnel, and organizational governance.

Heather A. McPherson’s commitment to the profession extends to her service with the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois, where she has served on the Hearing Board since 2008 and as a Panel Chair since 2014. She also contributes to legal education through writing and speaking on estate planning and elder law topics and remains engaged in community leadership through service on various nonprofit boards.
