Gregory M. Howison is a seasoned intellectual property attorney with over 41 years of legal experience. He focuses on patent law across a wide range of industries, including software, telecommunications, E-commerce, and semiconductor systems. His practice includes work on major patent portfolios covering voice messaging, video conferencing, and neural networks.

Gregory earned his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Catholic University of America in 1971 and his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1981. He is also a Registered U.S. Patent Attorney and is licensed in Texas, as well as admitted to several federal courts including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Before becoming a lawyer, Gregory worked for over nine years as a design engineer in high-frequency communications, both digital and analog. His engineering career included time with Westinghouse Defense Center, Texas Instruments, and Rockwell International. This technical background laid the foundation for his success in patent law.

Gregory has played a leading role in many Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs) before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has served clients as both patent owners and petitioners. In addition, he consults regularly with companies involved in patent licensing, especially those doing business in Japan and China.

Gregory’s practice spans many modern fields, including blockchain, medical devices, artificial intelligence, cleantech, biotech, and privacy law. He helps clients with IP audits, portfolio management, due diligence, and legal opinions. His knowledge of international IP issues strengthens his value to clients in global markets.
