Grant E. Fortson is a shareholder with Lax Vaughan Fortson Rowe & Threet, P.A., where he concentrates on complex civil and business litigation. His practice spans trial and appellate courts, handling matters such as contract disputes, business torts, fraud, shareholder litigation, covenants not to compete, securities, trade secrets, construction conflicts, and class actions. He also represents banks, lending institutions, and businesses in workouts, foreclosures, replevins, and receivership actions.
Fortson earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Southern Methodist University in 1987. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law in 1992. During law school, he served as Notes Editor of the UALR Law Journal, where he authored a notable article on constitutional law and taxation, reflecting his early dedication to legal scholarship.
Over his career, Fortson has represented clients before the Arkansas Supreme Court, the Arkansas Court of Appeals, multiple federal appellate courts, and the United States Supreme Court. His distinguished service includes appointments as both Special Chief Justice and Special Associate Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court. He also handles litigation arising from estate and probate matters, along with appearances before regulatory boards and agencies.
In addition to his trial and appellate practice, Grant E. Fortson contributes significantly to the legal community. He is an editor and contributing author of Handling Appeals in Arkansas and an active member of the American Bar Association, the Arkansas Bar Association, and the Pulaski County Bar Association.
