Gihan L. Thomas

Gihan L. Thomas is a California State Bar Certified Specialist in Immigration & Nationality Law with over 26 years of experience. Gihan has dedicated her entire career to U.S. immigration law, handling family and employment-based visas, and is known for her success representing clients in court and at the appellate level.

Gihan earned her bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature from Alexandria University. She later completed her Juris Doctor from the University of West Los Angeles in 1998. Her academic training has contributed to her deep legal understanding and ability to take on complex immigration matters with confidence and clarity.

Gihan has represented clients in a wide range of cases, including fiancée visas, labor certifications, consular processing, and investment and business visas. She brings dedication and attention to detail in helping individuals, families, and professionals navigate the legal process and obtain legal status in the United States.

Gihan has advocated for thousands before the Immigration Courts, filing asylum applications, canceling removals, removing waivers, and adjusting status. Gihan has won landmark cases before the Fifth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals. Her victories include critical rulings in asylum and reopening matters. She also served as a Liaison on Federal Litigation for AILA Southern California and was selected as a Super Lawyer and Top Women Attorney from 2015 through 2024.
