About
Gaye B. Tibbets is a partner at Hite, Fanning & Honeyman L.L.P., where she focuses her practice on employment law and civil litigation. Inspired by early examples of workplace discrimination in her own family, she has dedicated her career to promoting fairness in the workplace and protecting the rights of both employees and employers. With over three decades of experience, she has established herself as a trusted advocate in complex employment disputes.
Ms. Tibbets earned her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Baylor University in 1982 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 1986. She began practicing law that same year and has since successfully tried more than 40 cases in state and federal courts. Her extensive background also includes handling commercial arbitration and administrative proceedings, further demonstrating her versatility as a litigator.
Ms. Tibbets’ practice includes representing individuals in disputes with their employers, as well as advising employers on matters involving wage and hour law, the Family and Medical Leave Act, workplace discrimination, and constitutional claims. She also assists clients in negotiating severance agreements, noncompete covenants, and pay disputes. Recognized as an authority in employment law, she is frequently sought after for her expertise in navigating workplace challenges.
Beyond her litigation practice, Gaye B. Tibbets has held leadership positions within the Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas Women Attorneys Association. She has also dedicated significant time to nonprofit and community organizations, including the Kansas Appleseed Center for Law and Justice, the Urban League of Kansas, the Wichita Family Crisis Center, and Brighthouse, a domestic violence shelter.
