Gary F. Seitz is a partner whose practice concentrates on commercial bankruptcy, business litigation, and transportation law, including admiralty and maritime matters. He represents trustees, creditors, asset purchasers, and fiduciaries in bankruptcy and restructuring cases, providing practical, results-oriented counsel in complex insolvency proceedings and business disputes. His approach combines legal precision with strategic problem-solving, ensuring that each case aligns with clients’ financial and operational goals.
Gary earned his Master of Laws in Admiralty from Tulane University School of Law in 1988, building on his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1986. He also completed a Law and Trade Program at the Shanghai Law Research Institute in 1984 and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Buena Vista University in 1983. His academic background in admiralty and trade enhances his ability to manage maritime financing, vessel foreclosures, and transportation-related litigation.
Before joining Gellert, Scali, Busenkell & Brown, LLC, Gary served as a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where he managed Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. His experience includes overseeing asset sales, negotiating carve-outs, operating distressed businesses, and maximizing recoveries for creditors and estates. He also handles receiverships, sequestrations, and fiduciary appointments in both state and federal courts.
Gary F. Seitz is admitted to practice in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, as well as before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Fifth Circuits. He has earned the AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and actively contributes to the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees and the Maritime Law Association.
