Gary C. Ankers is the Office Managing Shareholder at Littler Mendelson P.C. Detroit office, where he counsels and defends employers in a wide range of labor and employment matters. His practice is focused on employment litigation defense, workplace policy drafting and review, corporate governance, and strategies for litigation avoidance. He regularly represents clients before the EEOC, NLRB, and Michigan Department of Civil Rights, and advises on traditional labor law, union issues, and collective bargaining.
Mr. Ankers earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1988 and his A.B. from the University of Michigan in 1985.
Mr. Ankers has handled claims arising under Title VII, the ADA, FMLA, ADEA, the Michigan Whistleblowers’ Protection Act, and the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act. His litigation experience includes defending against wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, and labor-management disputes under the National Labor Relations Act. He is admitted to practice in Michigan, Ohio, and the District of Columbia, and appears before federal courts in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.
Mr. Ankers also leads workplace training seminars for employers on the FLSA, FMLA, hiring practices, disciplinary procedures, and union avoidance. He is a frequent speaker on employment law topics and is highly regarded for his strategic approach to compliance and risk management.
Gary C. Ankers is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Labor and Employment Law Section and has received numerous honors throughout his career.
