Gareth I. Orsmond

Gareth I. Orsmond is a Partner at Pierce Atwood with offices in Portsmouth and Boston. He focuses on commercial real estate, land use, environmental, and energy matters in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. His practice includes transactions, permitting, and litigation, allowing him to structure complex real estate deals while addressing environmental and land use issues that can affect development, financing, approvals, construction, and long-term operation of projects.

Gareth graduated from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College, earned a B.A. with distinction from Yale University, and received an M.M. with honors from the New England Conservatory of Music. His legal training supports a practice that integrates transactional work with permitting and disputes. His background as an environmental and land use lawyer before building a commercial transactional practice gives him a broad perspective on development projects and regulatory constraints.

Gareth has played leading roles in major developments including University Station in Westwood, the St. Regis Residences in Boston, and the Skating Club of Boston’s training center in Norwood. His experience includes municipal work, Chapter 91 matters, environmental remediation, affordable housing, industrial property, hospitality transactions, and energy projects. He also represents utilities, landowners, and developers in renewable-energy and battery-storage matters requiring coordinated transactional, environmental, and permitting advice.
