Franklin J. Feilmeyer

Franklin J. Feilmeyer is a partner and attorney at New Point Law Firm, plc. He advises clients on real estate, estate planning, trust and estate administration, business matters, taxation, and municipal law. His work focuses on helping individuals, businesses, and local governments manage legal matters with practical guidance.

Frank earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1990. While in law school, he served as Managing Editor of the Iowa Law Review from 1989 to 1990. He received Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science with honors and economics from the University of Iowa in 1987.

Frank began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for the Iowa Court of Appeals, working with the Honorable Dick R. Schlegel from 1990 to 1991. After his clerkship, he moved to Ames and practiced law with a long-standing local firm before later joining other Ames firms.

Frank is one of the six founding members of New Point Law Firm, plc. Earlier in his career, he became a partner at Smith, Nutty, Sharp, Benson & Jahn and later joined the Pasley and Singer Law Firm, LLP as a partner in May 2008.

Frank has significant experience in municipal law. He has served as city attorney for several Iowa communities, including Gilbert, Huxley, Luther, McCallsburg, Sheldahl, Slater, and Zearing. He has also worked as outside counsel for municipalities on land acquisition and governance matters.

Frank is active in professional legal organizations. He is a member of the Iowa Academy of Trust and Estate Counsel and the Iowa State Bar Association, where he has served on committees and leadership roles related to real estate and title law.
