About
Eugene “Gene” Johnson is an accomplished bankruptcy attorney and the founder of The Johnson Law Firm, P.A. in Jacksonville, Florida. Since founding the firm in 2008, Johnson has built a respected practice focused on consumer bankruptcy law. Over the course of his career, he has represented clients in more than 3,000 Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, providing skilled legal support during financially challenging times.
Johnson earned his J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law (UDSL) in 2004. While in law school, he served as an extern law clerk for the Honorable William A. Clark of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Ohio, and was nominated for the American College of Bankruptcy’s Distinguished Law Student Program.
Initially practicing in Ohio, Eugene H. Johnson relocated to Jacksonville in 2008 to establish his firm. His practice has since evolved to focus exclusively on representing Chapter 7 Panel Trustees and creditors throughout the Middle District of Florida. His legal work includes litigating complex contested matters involving exemptions, turnover, avoidance actions, dischargeability disputes, and asset sales in bankruptcy.
Johnson is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He currently serves as President of the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association for the 2023–2024 term.
Dedicated to service beyond the courtroom, Eugene H. Johnson regularly volunteers with the Legal Assistance Program for the Middle District of Florida and Jacksonville Area Legal Aid’s In-Person Bankruptcy Clinic. His commitment to both legal excellence and community support makes him a leading figure in Florida’s bankruptcy law field.
