Erica Blachman Hitchings is a partner at Whistleblower Law Collaborative LLC, whose practice is devoted to whistleblower and False Claims Act matters. Before entering private practice, she spent nearly nine years with the US Department of Justice investigating, litigating, and resolving fraud cases. Her work includes health care law, procurement fraud, Medicare Advantage, Anti-Kickback Statute matters, Stark Law issues, and pharmaceutical off-label marketing schemes. She represents whistleblowers in complex matters involving alleged fraud against government programs.
Ms. Hitchings earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School. She earned her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Dartmouth College and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. During law school, she was a member of the Stanford Law Review and served on the Executive Board of the Stanford Journal for Civil Rights & Civil Liberties. Her academic background provided a strong foundation for federal litigation, public interest work, and complex fraud investigations.
Ms. Hitchings joined the Department of Justice through the Attorney General’s Honors Program. She served as a Trial Attorney in the Civil Fraud Section and later as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of California. Her investigations involved healthcare, procurement, and other fraud matters that collectively recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for the United States. She also coordinated civil rights enforcement and defended federal agencies in administrative, constitutional, and environmental litigation.
Erica Blachman Hitchings is admitted in Massachusetts and California and before federal district courts in Massachusetts and California. She serves as an adjunct professor at Boston University School of Law, teaching a Health Care Fraud and Abuse Seminar. Her professional activities include the Federal Bar Association Qui Tam Section Advisory Board and the Anti-Fraud Coalition President’s Council. Her practice combines government enforcement experience with focused representation of whistleblowers pursuing fraud claims.
