Edward W. Gould

Edward W. Gould is a seasoned trial attorney with decades of experience handling complex civil disputes across Maine. His practice includes personal injury, products liability, Alternative Dispute Resolution, litigation, insurance defense, and employment law. He represents individuals and businesses in high-stakes matters, with a strong focus on medical malpractice cases and courtroom advocacy.

Edward earned his Bachelor’s degree in 1979 from Brown University. He then graduated cum laude from Boston University where he received his Juris Doctor in 1982. That same year, he was admitted to the bar of the State of Maine and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine. In 1985, he was admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, First Circuit.

Edward has built a respected career marked by leadership within the legal community. He is a member of the Maine State Bar Association and the Penobscot County Bar Association, serving as secretary-treasurer from 1996 to 2001 and as president in 2001. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and served as vice president of its Maine Chapter in 2001 and as president from 2002 through 2003. In 2012, Edward Gould was awarded the AV® Preeminent™ rating from LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell®. He was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers in March 2020.

Edward was ranked in Band 1 by Chambers and Partners in the 2023 Chambers and Partners rankings as one of two medical malpractice attorneys recognized at that level in Maine. He has also served in significant civic roles, including leadership positions with Eastern Maine Home Care, Northern Light Home Health and Hospice, and Northern Light Acadia Hospital, as well as public service roles in Bangor.
