Douglas Kraus

Douglas Kraus is a civil litigation attorney with Brener & Kraus in New Orleans. Kraus has experience in health care and medical malpractice, employment law, premises liability, personal injury, toxic torts, occupational injury, natural resource damages, and environmental law. He has represented hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, governmental entities, businesses, and individuals, and he has first-chair trial experience in courts in Louisiana, Illinois, and New Jersey.

Kraus attended Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology from 1994 to 1997. His litigation career has since developed around complex fact records, expert testimony, depositions, court appearances, case management, and trial preparation. Kraus served as Special Counsel to the Louisiana Attorney General and worked on the state’s Deepwater Horizon litigation, including service as co-trial counsel in early trial phases. He also served as Special Counsel to New Jersey in litigation seeking recovery for natural resource damage involving ExxonMobil and participated as co-trial counsel in an eight-month trial. These matters added significant experience in government claims and environmental litigation.
