Edgar D. Gankendorff

Edgar D. Gankendorff is Co-Managing Partner at Provosty Law in New Orleans and has a long-standing entertainment and commercial practice. Gankendorff represents musicians, performers, and other creative clients in matters involving recording contracts, publishing agreements, sponsorship arrangements, film and television licenses, intellectual property, and entertainment-related disputes. His broader practice also includes commercial and corporate matters, class actions, environmental issues, products liability, and other litigation.

Gankendorff earned a J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 1990 and a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from Tulane University in 1987. During law school, he participated in the Tulane Environmental Law Journal and Environmental Law Clinic. His academic background and years of practice support work that combines contract negotiation, intellectual property analysis, business counseling, and litigation in industries where creative rights and commercial relationships often overlap.

Gankendorff has represented a wide range of music clients and has handled negotiations involving recording, publishing, sponsorship, and licensing arrangements. He also litigates entertainment and copyright matters and has experience in other commercial disputes. In addition to private practice, he has served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for Louisiana and has lectured on entertainment law at universities, law schools, and continuing legal education programs.
