Doug Harlan is a focused litigation attorney at Norwood & Norwood, P.A. He represents people charged with criminal offenses and helps them understand their options. With experience in many courts, he works to protect client rights, reduce stress, and seek the best possible results through careful defense and strong advocacy.
Doug earned his J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville. He also earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. During law school, he served as UA Chapter President of the National Lawyers Guild and worked in the criminal defense clinic for clients.
Doug began his legal career as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Sebastian County and Crawford County. He prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases, including traffic tickets, DWIs, drug trafficking, and rape. This work gave him knowledge of law enforcement and prosecutor tactics used to seek criminal convictions in Arkansas courts today.
Doug spent countless hours negotiating and trying criminal cases in court. After seeing the cycle of reentry and reincarceration, he chose to represent people charged with crimes. He pushes for rights to be protected and seeks rehabilitative options, which often serve clients better than punitive measures in court.
Doug was selected to join Norwood & Norwood, P.A. after the firm learned about his courtroom experience and vigorous defense work. He respected the firm’s reputation as a top-tier criminal defense firm. He is a member of the Washington County Bar Association and the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers today.
