Donovan Rodriques

Donovan Rodriques is the founder and managing attorney of Rodriques Law, PLLC, where he practices business and entertainment law. He advises producers, production companies, investors, talent, entrepreneurs, and emerging media businesses. He concentrates his work on film, television, intellectual property, financing, and sports law. He structures rights acquisitions, private equity matters, distribution transactions, and development, talent, and production agreements. He helps clients negotiate with financiers, distributors, sales agents, and other industry stakeholders.

Donovan earned his B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of the West Indies in 1995. He received his LL.B. from the University of the West Indies in 1999. He completed his LL.M. in International Trade Law at the University of Edinburgh School of Law in 2000. He obtained his C.L.E. from Norman Manley Law School in 2002. He gained admission to the New York State Bar in 2012. His federal admissions include the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Donovan advises clients on protecting, acquiring, negotiating, and licensing copyrights, trademarks, publicity rights, and other intellectual property. He guides creators developing books, documentaries, films, and video games into film, television, or digital media properties. He counsels businesses on entity formation, corporate compliance, insurance, and guild or union matters. He presented on option and adaptation deal-making at the New York State Bar Association’s 2019 Annual Meeting. His published work includes a 2013 article addressing independent film financing.
