About
Donald W. Ward has spent more than 70 years fighting for fair access to justice in Indiana. Since 1954, he has built a career grounded in personal service and strong advocacy. Known for his integrity and persistence, he has earned the trust of clients and the respect of peers through decades of dedicated legal service.
Donald began his education at Hanover College, earning his A.B. in 1951. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 1954. His academic foundation prepared him for a distinguished legal journey and gave him the skills to lead and serve with excellence.
Donald served as Deputy Trial Prosecutor for Marion County from 1962 to 1965. Later, he worked as Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City of Indianapolis between 1975 and 1980. These roles sharpened his knowledge of the justice system from both prosecutorial and municipal sides, giving him unique insight into legal complexities.
Donald was President of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association in 1978–1979 and received their Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. He is also a Fellow of the Indiana College of Trial Lawyers and held key roles on the Indiana Judicial Nominating and Qualification Commissions. His leadership has helped shape the legal community across the state.
