Don F. Harris

Don F. Harris, Esq., is the Senior Attorney at New Mexico Financial & Family Law, where he focuses his practice on estate planning, probate, family law, and creditors’ rights. With more than three decades of legal experience, Don is widely recognized for his skill, professionalism, and commitment to client service. He is known for guiding clients through complex legal challenges with clear advice and trusted advocacy.

Don earned his law degree with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law after completing undergraduate studies at the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford. Since being admitted to practice in 1990, he has built a distinguished career marked by both professional recognition and community service. His credentials include an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, repeated selection to Southwest Super Lawyers, and national certification in Creditors’ Rights Law from the American Board of Certification.

In addition to his legal practice, Don has been an active leader within the legal community. He is a past President of the Bankruptcy Law Section of the New Mexico State Bar and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Family Law Section. He has served on judicial selection panels and received the Client Platinum Champion Award from Martindale-Hubbell, reflecting both peer and client recognition for his excellence.

Don F. Harris has also contributed significantly to public service. As a four-term Albuquerque City Councilor, he sponsored and supported key community initiatives, including funding for parks, public safety facilities, and open space preservation.
