Dick J. Baldwin is a shareholder at Parr Brown and a member of the appellate and commercial litigation practice groups. He focuses on appeals and has represented clients in civil, administrative, and criminal matters across many industries. His work includes cases in federal and state appellate courts.
Dick earned a J.D. in 2013 from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Utah Law Review and as a William H. Leary Scholar. He also earned a B.S. in Urban and Metropolitan Studies in 2009.
Dick has strong experience in appellate law and has handled matters involving commercial disputes, criminal prosecutions, wrongful death, civil rights, constitutional issues, probate, and Fair Housing Act claims. He has appeared before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and Utah appellate courts in many cases.
Dick served as a law clerk to Judge Scott M. Matheson Jr. on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and to Judge Ted Stewart on the United States District Court for the District of Utah. These roles strengthened his understanding of appellate process and judicial decision-making.
Dick has been recognized for his professional work and achievements. He has been named a Rising Star by Mountain States Super Lawyers since 2021 and has been listed as one of Utah’s Legal Elite by Utah Business magazine in 2021 and 2022.
Dick is active in professional organizations and contributes to the legal community. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Utah State Bar Appellate Practice Section and participates in the Utah Rules of Appellate Procedure Advisory Committee, supporting improvements in appellate practice and legal standards.
