G. Brent Mickum

G. Brent Mickum, Esq. is a nationally respected trial lawyer with more than three decades of experience in complex civil litigation. As Litigation Director, he leads high-stakes cases, focusing on strong strategy, careful case management, and effective advocacy across a wide range of legal matters.

Brent earned his Juris Doctorate from George Mason University School of Law, where he served on the Law Review Board of Editors as Lead Articles Editor. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Arts from George Washington University.

Brent has served in key government roles, including Senior Investigative Counsel for the U.S. Senate and Special Assistant United States Attorney with the Department of Justice. He also worked at the Federal Trade Commission. In private practice, he was a partner at national law firms handling complex litigation for major clients.

Brent has represented Fortune 500 companies in product liability, regulatory, and commercial litigation. As General Counsel for Mission Coal LLC, he managed litigation with assessed liabilities exceeding $1 billion. His leadership in large, multi-jurisdictional cases has earned him a reputation as a skilled and strategic trial lawyer.

Brent has also made a strong impact in human rights work. He represented Guantánamo Bay detainees in important constitutional cases. His efforts helped achieve successful outcomes and gained national recognition. His work reflects a commitment to justice and the protection of individual rights.

Brent’s honors include the Beacon of Justice Award from the National Legal Aid and Defender Association and the Frederick Douglass Human Rights Award. He also received a grant for international justice work. These awards highlight his dedication, leadership, and contributions to the legal field.
