About

Deborah Cazan is a partner at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP in Atlanta and an experienced construction lawyer and business counselor. Her practice is focused on litigation, arbitration, and mediation involving construction, development, and real estate disputes. She handles claims involving delay, acceleration, interference, defective construction, defective design, scope changes, and other project issues. She also advises on construction contracts and helps clients address disputes that arise while projects are still underway.

Deborah earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2001 and a B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1998. Her legal education prepared her for a practice that combines contract analysis, litigation strategy, negotiation, and industry-specific problem solving. Over more than two decades, she has developed a detailed understanding of the legal relationships among owners, developers, contractors, designers, and other project participants in complex construction and real estate matters.

Deborah has represented clients in high-value disputes across the country involving energy, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use, multifamily, industrial, manufacturing, retail, and education projects. Her transactional work includes drafting and negotiating general contractor, construction management, EPC, design-build, project management, and architectural and engineering agreements. She also assists clients with change orders, amendments, termination issues, and project reset agreements designed to resolve active problems and reduce the risk of future litigation.

Deborah Cazan has been ranked in Chambers USA for Construction since 2016 and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Litigation – Construction and Construction Law. She is a Fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America and has served in Atlanta Bar Association leadership, including the Construction Law Section and board roles.
