David R. Kress

David R. Kress is a Pocatello attorney at Kress Law Office who provides criminal defense and mediation services. His current practice includes DUI defense and other criminal matters, supported by decades of legal experience and prior service as a Magistrate Court judge. He has handled or adjudicated thousands of cases and uses that courtroom background to help clients understand possible consequences, legal options, and the practical realities of criminal proceedings.

David earned a B.S. in Political Science from Idaho State University in 1991 and a J.D. from the University of Idaho in 1994. During law school, he served in student advocacy and leadership roles. He was admitted in Idaho and to the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho in 1994. His education and years in practice provide the legal foundation for criminal defense, courtroom advocacy, and mediation.

David has more than three decades of experience in criminal law and adjudication. His firm highlights representation in more than 10,000 cases and his familiarity with law enforcement, prosecutors, and courts. As a former magistrate judge, he has evaluated evidence and legal arguments from the bench as well as from counsel’s table. His current work includes defending accused individuals and helping parties resolve disputes through mediation services.

David R. Kress has held leadership roles in the Sixth District Bar Association and has been involved with criminal defense organizations in Idaho.
