Michael D. Waldrup

Michael D. Waldrup is a Sandpoint, Idaho trial lawyer whose practice focuses on criminal defense and family law. He has practiced extensively in criminal law as both a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and private defense counsel. His criminal work includes DUI matters, drug offenses, aggravated assault, attempted murder, and other felony and misdemeanor cases, giving him experience with a broad range of courtroom issues.

Waldrup graduated from the University of Idaho Law School in 1998, where he served on the Trial Team. While still in training, he worked as a licensed legal intern and served as lead counsel in misdemeanor criminal defense trials. He later received trial advocacy training through the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina, while working as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney.

After his prosecutorial work, Waldrup practiced federal law and negotiated with state and federal agencies, including Idaho Fish and Game, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the EPA. He opened his own practice in 2004 and brought that negotiation experience into criminal defense. His current practice is limited to criminal cases and family law, allowing him to concentrate on those two areas.
