David M. Houliston

David M. Houliston is the founder of the Law Offices of David M. Houliston in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His practice focuses on representing people injured through negligence, including matters involving catastrophic losses, trucking accidents, insurance disputes, product liability, and other serious injury claims. David draws on decades of civil trial experience and prior work for insurance carriers and corporations when preparing claims and pursuing compensation for injured clients.

David earned his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1987, where he received the Popejoy and Leach Scholarship for the highest entering LSAT score. He previously earned a degree in Economics and Finance from New Mexico State University in 1983 and completed graduate business study there. His legal and business education supports his analysis of damages, insurance issues, liability, and complex civil litigation.

For the first 18 years of his legal career, David focused on civil defense and represented Fortune 500 companies and multinational insurance carriers. His work included catastrophic loss, construction defects, insurance bad faith, and product liability litigation. In 2007, he shifted his practice to plaintiff representation. He has tried more than 120 cases in New Mexico state and federal courts, and his firm reports a notable $35 million recovery in a trucking accident highway case.

David M. Houliston is admitted before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He has served on the board of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and frequently lectures on trial tactics and techniques. His recognitions include an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, Best Lawyers in America recognition for Insurance Law, and repeated selection to the New Mexico Super Lawyers list.
