David C. Travis

David C. Travis is the founding partner of Bluegrass Lawyers, PLLC in Louisville, Kentucky. His practice includes sports and entertainment law, business and commercial litigation, personal injury, insurance disputes, defamation, real estate development, and other civil matters. Travis represents both plaintiffs and defendants and brings a business-oriented perspective shaped by experience in finance, sports management, sports marketing, commercial development, and collegiate athletics. He helps clients evaluate disputes, protect business interests, and pursue practical resolutions through negotiation or trial.

Travis earned his J.D. from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 2000 and a B.S. from the University of Louisville, with studies in education and sports management. His academic background complements his experience in business, athletics, and commercial development. He was admitted to the Kentucky bar in 2001 and is also admitted before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky.

Travis has significant experience at the intersection of law, business, and sports. In 2000, he was responsible for operational management for the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club and has served as local counsel for the PGA of America since 2001. His work also included the 2008 Ryder Cup, 2011 Senior PGA Championship, and 2014 PGA Championship. Beyond sports matters, he handles complex civil disputes involving businesses, insurance, real estate, collections, and personal injury claims.
