David A. Baez

David A. Baez is a partner at Willens & Baez Personal Injury Lawyers, P.C. and a Chicago personal injury trial lawyer. He joined the firm as an associate in 2014, became a partner in 2019, and became a named partner in 2023. Before moving to plaintiff representation, he worked for a Chicago law firm defending insurance companies and other defendants in personal injury matters, giving him experience with defense-side claim strategy.

David graduated from Florida State University with the highest honors and later attended the University of Notre Dame Law School. His academic background preceded his Illinois law license, which dates to 2013. During law school, he was involved in student organizations and pursued the legal training that led to his personal injury career in the Midwest. His education and early defense work were followed by a transition to representing seriously injured people.

David handles personal injury matters where insurance coverage, liability, damages, and trial preparation are central issues. He has tried cases to excess verdicts in multiple jurisdictions when insurers disputed responsibility or refused to accept accountability. His results include millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for clients, including a $1.5 million dog bite award in 2023. His prior insurance-defense experience informs his current plaintiff-side litigation and negotiation work.
