Dave Sunday

Dave Sunday serves as the Attorney General of Pennsylvania, where he leads statewide efforts to protect citizens, uphold justice, and strengthen public safety. A lifelong central Pennsylvanian, he has devoted his career to fighting crime, combating the opioid epidemic, and ensuring fairness in the legal system. His leadership reflects integrity, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to the people of Pennsylvania.

Sunday completed his Bachelor’s in Finance from Penn State University and his J.D. from Widener University Commonwealth Law School. Before entering public service, he joined the United States Navy after high school, serving in the Persian Gulf, South America, and the Caribbean during Operation Desert Strike and multiple counter-narcotics missions. His military service instilled in him the values of honor, courage, and commitment—principles that continue to guide his legal career.

Following law school, Sunday clerked for the Honorable Joseph C. Adams in the York County Court of Common Pleas before joining the York County District Attorney’s Office in 2009. Over his tenure, he served as a prosecutor, supervised the Major Crimes and Narcotics Units, and later became District Attorney. In 2013, he was appointed Special Assistant United States Attorney, where he prosecuted gang, gun, and drug crimes, including the landmark Operation Sunrise case involving over 100 arrests.

As District Attorney, Dave Sunday took a proactive role in addressing opioid addiction, elder abuse, and mental health challenges, forging partnerships across healthcare and law enforcement. Now as Attorney General, he continues to prioritize community safety, victim protection, and justice reform, drawing on his extensive trial experience and lifelong dedication to public service.
